Balances and Metaphors

Our shared stories are the current balance of universal metaphors: temporary agreements of meaning mediated, disputed, and renegotiated by the zeitgeist over time.

About the Collection

Balances and Metaphors is a digital art collection that approaches mythology and religion not as relics of the past, but as living metaphors: symbolic structures that reappear again and again because they model universal patterns of human experience.

In this framework, the stories we tell - myths, parables, icons, rituals - are the current balance of those metaphors: the way a culture temporarily stabilizes them while interpretation continues to change with the evolution of the zeitgeist.

Thesis

  • Metaphors are universal; balance is temporary.
  • Each generation inherits symbols and reinterprets them: the human need for meaning remains, while the language used to express it changes.
  • The collection proposes that shared narratives work as agreements of meaning: temporary stabilizations in the collective negotiation of the sacred, the moral, the psychological, and the aesthetic.

Featured Works

The collection includes pieces such as “Ouroboros”, a meditation on cycle and self-renewal, and “Pentecost”, a contemporary reinterpretation of inspiration and the transmission of meaning. In both cases, the focus is the underlying pattern: how an ancient image becomes legible again when the zeitgeist shifts.

Process

Each work emerges from a dialogue between symbolic research and formal experimentation:

  1. Reading / archive: myths, texts, icons, gestures, and narrative structures.
  2. Abstraction: identifying the psychological pattern (tension, threshold, return, revelation).
  3. Composition: building balance between opposing forces (visual weight, rhythm, symmetry/rupture).
  4. Synthesis: refining until the piece sustains multiple readings without losing coherence.

Invitation

Balances and Metaphors invites viewers to contemplate how the universal disguises itself as local history: how the symbol remains while the narrative mutates. The works do not seek to close interpretation, but to place the viewer at the point of balance where meaning is still alive.
